What ClickUp does better than everyone else
The headline advantage is feature density at a low price. For ~$7/user/mo you get List, Board, Gantt, Timeline, and Calendar views, plus docs and goals in the same workspace. No other tool at that price gives you that much surface area.
For a small team that wants tasks and docs and a light CRM without stitching three apps together, that’s genuinely compelling.

ClickUp’s published base plans include Unlimited at $7/user/month billed yearly and Business at $12/user/month billed yearly. Who should skip it
- Brand-new teams that just need a shared to-do list: start on Trello and migrate later. ClickUp’s flexibility is also its friction — every view is configurable, which paralyzes some teams.
- Teams that hate configuration: the “all-in-one” promise means you do the integrating.
Verdict
ClickUp earns its reputation for teams that will actually use the breadth. For everyone else, the setup tax makes Trello (simple) or Asana (structured) the smarter starting point. Either way, resist turning on every feature on day one — pick List + Board, ship work, and add views only when a real need appears.
